Maybe it's just me, but wouldn't you think that when this new Democratic Congress passes a bill that Bush WON'T veto, it would be news on your teevee? Better yet - wouldn't you think that would go double for a bill about The Most Iconic Event Ever In the History of the World, September The Eleventh, Two Thousand and One(TM)?
But somehow, the teevee folks managed to ignore this story anyway.
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Congress sent President Bush legislation Friday to intensify anti-terror efforts in the U.S., shifting money to high-risk states and cities and expanding screening of air and sea cargo to stave off future September 11-style attacks.
The measure carries out major recommendations of the independent 9/11 Commission.
The bill, passed by the House on a 371-40 vote, ranks among the top accomplishments of the six-month-old Democratic Congress. The Senate approved the measure late Thursday by 85-8, and the White House said the president would sign the bill.
Now why wouldn't all the Security Screamers on the teevee be talking about how Congress was finally doing something right? You know, making Our Homeland Safer and all that good stuff?
Oh, that's right. Hillary Clinton showed a quarter-millimeter of cleavage.
Never mind.
